WOODCUTS
I wanted to experiment with bringing print into the third dimension and move away from the idea that the final result had to be a print on paper. I began to view the matrix, in this case the woodblock, as sculpture. I wanted to capture the moment when you ink up the block for the first time and see the design fully revealed. To preserve that specific moment in time, the ink was replaced with oil paint, which then evolved into further experimentations with a hybrid display between woodcut and painting.
