About Me
Patricia Agus (they/them) is a non-binary Naarm-based artist-curator working in the field of contemporary printmaking. They challenge the boundaries of printmaking through presentation and experimental techniques. Graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) in 2021, specialising in Drawing and Printmaking, and later completed a Master of Art Curatorship at the University of Melbourne.
Agus merges printmaking with another medium, often sculpture. Their practice explores the experience of navigating between two cultures, balancing dual identities, and imagining alternate versions of self. Agus experiments with hybrid forms of printmaking and sculpture, which pushes the boundaries of traditional printmaking, prompting questions about its definition, stretching its limits before it becomes something else entirely. This hybrid approach is central to their storytelling. It invites viewers to engage the narrative from multiple perspectives, allowing for dynamic and personal interactions with each piece.
I acknowledges the Boonwurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the Custodians of the land on which we operate, and we pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging. We recognise that the sovereignty was never ceded.
This always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
